With the lull in football action of a summer break I have been able to properly read "The Villa Premier Years".
The author Steve Brookes provides a fascinating insight into the history of the almighty Aston Villa...from a point of view of a passionate fan.
Steve contacted me through this website to help promote his book towards the end of 2008 when his book was nearing completion. I have been more than happy to provide links and recommendations for this unique project that also is raising money for charity.
Steve is aiming to raise £2,500 for a Great Wall of China Trek in aid of the RNID (deaf and hard of hearing) by August, with around £500 of the target left to go.
After various to-and-throwing between Aston Villa and other intellectual rights owners Steve was given the thumbs up to launch his book on the Claret and Blue public!
The book covers Villa's Premier League history from 1992-2008, with extra information about our local rivalry with Birmingham City.
Before reading The Premier Years I thought it might be a struggle to stay awake, like books I have read from former players, but I was very pleasantly surprised.
The book was intriguing to read, holds lots of interesting information, useful facts and Steve's personal views on players and managers completes the book nicely.
"The Premier Years" recalled many happy Villa memories for me and jogged my memory of some of the fantastic players who have worn the famous Claret and Blue over the years.
Steve has put a lot of work and research into this project to achieve his dream of publishing his own football-related book.
I thoroughly recommend this book to fellow Villans. Steve has some autographed copies available which makes it an ideal gift or keepsake. The price is £10.99 plus postage and packaging.
"This book is a must have for all Aston Villa fans as it has all the history from the Premier League years. Superbly researched and presented; a great treat for all ardent Villa fans with happy hours to look forward to." Phil King
"It really does relive the magical moments in your head. A must read for all Villa fans from all generations." Shaun Teale
